Product Description

This is the famous Fantaisie Brillante based on melodies from Gounod's opera Faust.  It was written by Henri Wieniawski in 1865 when Fantaisies on opera themes was all the rage in concerts.  Wieniawski wrote two versions, one for violin and piano, and one for violin and orchestra.  It is here arranged for violin and organ.  As in the original, there is almost equal balance in importance between the violin and the organ.  This is a standard piece of the advanced violin repertoire, and it is here simplified a bit to advanced intermediate by taming some of the virtuosic sections, slowing the tempo slightly, and vastly shortening the piece.  It makes it a more accessible piece to add to your repertoire earlier.  This arrangement only treats the first two of the original five sections, taking it from a 17 minute piece down to 5 minutes.  (12 page score, 3 page solo part)
