Product Description

An exciting samba that will keep your rhythm section busy, your singers engaged, and your audience humming for hours. The chart begins with a drum solo, followed by a band introduction, setting up the melodys first statement as either an ensemble unison or optional solo. Contours in energy and texture make for a varied arrangement: the texture gradually expands until the fullest voicings are reached, and a beautifully lush and sustained section features two additional, optional voice parts, again building to full energy at its conclusion. The final section is open for improvised solos. "Rio" is influenced by Leny Andrades rendition of the song. Andrade, who has been referred to as "Brazils Sarah Vaughan," is considered by many to be the greatest jazz samba singer. Pronunciation guide included!

Voicing:  SATB (optional SSATBB voicings included) and rhythm section (piano, bass, drumkit, opt. guitar)

Band parts (including fully-notated piano and bass parts) are included.
