Product Description

J.E. Newell The Secular Melodist" 27 pieces for Harmonium/Reed Organ

A couple of years ago I was lucky to find a complete original of this quite rare book of secular sheet music for reed organ, first published in 1901. It shows how integrated the harmonium/reed organ was in the daily life of the Victorians/Edwardians. Hymns and religious songs on Sundays, secular favourites at any (other) time. I processed Newells "Secular Melodist" and now offer this new edition, produced to modern standards but retaining the original format.

The original title page reads:

The

Secular Melodist

Containing

Popular & Favorite Melodies

For The

Harmonium or American Organ

Easily Arranged

By

J.E. Newell

Whisper and I shall hear (Piccolomini), The Village Blacksmith (Weiss), The Washington PostMarch (Sousa), Juanita (Hon. Mrs. Norton), Queenie (Watson), What are the wild Waves saying (Glover) and 21 other numbers.

Fun to play. Also highly suitable for piano or keyboard. Easy to medium.
