These songs are adapted from Mendelssohn's Six Duets, Op. 63, originally for two sopranos. The songs have been arranged for oboe and soprano saxophone and exploit the similarity of tone between these two instruments. The lower part could easily be performed on clarinet or even trumpet and there's really no reason the higher, oboe part couldn't be performed on flute or violin.
