Composed 2015. One of a series of fourteen accompaniments to texts published between 1886-1899 Duration 2:45 approx. For percussion and narrator. Text: from 'The Anarchists' by John Henry Mackay (1864 - 1933). 
Drum 1 (high conga, mid tom etc.) Drum 2 (low conga, low tom, small bass drum etc.) Cymbal or high hat.  Drums may played more than one to a part, cymbal/high hat may be doubled with other metal instruments. The piece may be performed without narrator.
 Programme note: John Henry Mackay was an individualist anarchist, thinker and writer. His book 'The Anarchists: A Picture of Civilization at the Close of the Nineteenth Century' was published in German and English in 1891. It is a semi-fictional account of Mackay's year in London from the spring of 1887 to that of the following year, written from the perspective of protagonist and author surrogate Carrard Auban. The text used in this piece is from chapter six, 'The Empire of Hunger'.
