Product Description

Although Joplin also aspired to be remembered as a composer of Opera, his essential legacy is that of founder of the classical form of Ragtime. This infectious two-step feel music was one of the formative influences on Jazz, and it enjoyed a revival in the 1950s and again in 1973 when the film The Sting featured Joplins music arranged by Marvin Hamlisch. The Entertainer, which was featured, remains popular to this day.
