Thank Hank is Rock 70s arrangement similar to what I experienced under the direction of Hank Levy while a grad student at Catholic University in Washington, D. C. It offers students an opportunity to explore the odd meters he commonly used to formulate many of his works, only on an easier level for advanced middle school and high school players. Audiences will also enjoy this diversion from the typical meters used in most jazz arrangements. Although scored for full jazz ensemble, the arrangement will work for smaller groups that do not have the full instrumentation.

Auxiliary cow bell and tambourine parts will add to the flavor that was so commonly used during this era of pop music. Try to get the70s flavor by using as close to an organ sound as possible, but a piano may be substituted. . There is 36 measure improvisation section that uses three chords, one for every 12 measures, and jazz scales are included in all the wind parts to encourage students to improvise.
