Jesus challenged His disciples to seek Gods Kingdom and Gods righteousness instead of seeking wealth, position, or power. In what we call The Lords Prayer Jesus teaches us to put Gods agenda above our own: we are taught to pray for Gods reputation, the establishment of Gods Kingdom, and for Gods will to be accomplished on earth. Yet we often fall to the temptations to concentrate and build our personal kingdoms, seek our own fame, and demand our own agendas. Trying to look at our world through Gods eyes, and trying to further Gods agenda brings peace, contentment, and joy as we grapple with the difficulties of life. And besides this, Christ promised that by putting God first, our Heavenly Father would provide our food, clothing, and shelter needs.
