I bristled when a friend challenged me about being a perfectionist. To try to stop being perfectionistic seemed to be inconsistent with the idea that we are supposed to accept ourselves. But with time I began to realize that perfectionists are never satisfied, pretty unhappy, and always tired. I also found that Jesus was not a perfectionist. Jesus didnt pick flaws. Perfectionism isnt Christlike. Perfectionism is NOT a God given character trait. It stems from a sense of insecurity and lack of acceptance. For me, ultimately, there is only one source of acceptance.

Based on passages such as Romans 15:7 and Ephesians 1:3-6, this song celebrates the unconditional love of God and how learning to accept God's acceptance will help me pass acceptance and forgiveness on to others, allowing me to loosen the obsession to be 'perfect' and in control.
