Product Description
Magpie was
premiered at La Scala opera house in Milan, Italy on May 31, 1817 and was an
immediate success. The overture has become a staple of the orchestral repertoire, as have many Rosssini overtures.
In this
arrangement, I have omitted the famous snare drum roll at the beginning, opting
instead to stick with just the flute choir instruments. I also simplified the
opening rhythmic figure in the interest of ease of consistency across
the ensemble. Much of the orchestral piccolo part, often seen in auditions, is
preserved in the piccolo part here and I have kept the piece in its original
keys.
The piece is typical Rossini: lively, challenging, and fun. The total play time is aprox. 9:45.
