This is the eighth of a set of twelve trio sonatas published in London in 1747 by John Walsh for two violins and cello or harpsichord by William Boyce 'composer to His Majesty' King George the second with the 'Royal Privilege and Licence' for the sole printing and publishing rights for fourteen years. The subscription list comprised the 'Who's Who' of the time including one George Frederick Handel Esq;
The three movements, Largo, Siciliana and Minuet are suitable for players of intermediate standard and above. The musical notation has been modernised e.g. dotted notes carried over bar/measure lines have been replaced by ties. Additional dynamics have been added in parentheses ( ). The original dynamics were indicated in full and have been replaced with the more modern abbreviations. e.g. piano is replaced by p.
