Six minuets, each with a Trio in the same key, were composed for piano in 1796 and would have been played for dancing on informal gatherings or for dancing practice for more formal ones. They are arranged for flute, oboe, clarinet in Bb, bassoon and horn in F and today would find a niche at modern social gatherings such as weddings. Players of intermediate standard and above will enjoy them and everyone will recognise No, 2 which became very popular in Beethoven's life time and has remained so ever since.
