Franz Krommer wrote this Trio originally for two oboes and english horn. Here is a more colorful arrangement for two clarinets, and bass clarinet. The solo lines of the original oboe 1 part are equally shared between the two clarinet parts, creating more sonic interest for the listener and more playing interest for both instrumentalists. The lower range of the bass clarinet also allows for a more expansive range of pitch and color.

The Trio in F Major is a substantial, 4 movement, classical work approximately 15 minutes in length. It makes for a great recital piece as a whole. Individual movements are also quite appropriate as background chamber music for parties, receptions, brunches, etc.
