Product Description
This one will have your audience singing, tapping feet and clapping hands. Its a medley of seven favorite and familiar turn-of-the-last-century songs, and its arranged so the audience can sing along with the brass quintet. The songs are the perennially popular "Let Me Call You Sweetheart"; "By the Light of the Silvery Moon"; "When You Were Sweet Sixteen"; "Shine On, Harvest Moon"; "(I'll Be with You) In Apple Blossom Time"; "Moonlight Bay"; and "K-K-K-Katy." In addition to the six score parts (quintet plus audience), the arrangement package includes a lyrics page that can be duplicated and distributed to the audience.
The instrumental accompaniment is fun and complete and, even without the singing, can stand on its own as a concert piece. Trumpets play much of the lead, but Horn, Trombone and Tuba also get to play melody. There are no exceptionally fast sections or complicated rhythms, although the tempo changes eight times and the key signature, six. With respect to range: for the most part, both Trumpets play well within their registers; Horn in F has one A above its staff; Trombone plays mostly in the upper part of its staff and above, occasionally going as high as E; Tubas highest note is F in the staff; the lowest, G below.
Note: The audio sample was recorded without the vocal track.
This arrangement was completed in 2018, and performance time runs about 9 minutes with all repeats. The arranger, Les Smith, would be very interested in your comments; contact him at lessmith@ufl.edu or leave a review on the SheetMusicPlus website. He will also be happy
to provide substitute parts for this arrangement (e.g., treble-clef baritone
for trombone). For more arrangements by Les, enter "Sweetwater Brass Press" (without the quotation marks) in the SheetMusicPlus search box.
