Whilst it can be performed by 3 Altos, Tenor and Baritone, use of a Soprano on the first part will allow maximum tonal variation. The work is designed as a concert or recital opener or closer, at about advanced intermediate level. A convincing performance will be achievable from players at about ABRSM grade 6/7 and above. Like all good ensemble pieces, everyone has plenty to do with a nice balance of energy, drama and pathos.
