Product Description

Once in Royal David's City is a traditional Christmas carol.  The lyrics were written as a poem by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895) and first published in 1848.  The poem was set to music in 1849 by the English organist Henry John Gauntlett (1805-1876).

This arrangement for saxophone quartet, as Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Baritone, uses traditional harmonies to emulate a church organ. The melodic line is shared around so that each player has a turn at leading the quartet by playing the melody. There are four stanzas (verses) and a repeated section to end the piece.

The duration is approximately 2 minutes 20 seconds.
The score is four pages long, and each part is one page.
