Product Description
Full orchestra accompanies Celtic band (flute, 2 violins, bodhran, guitar) in a Celtic version of the classic Christmas Carol, followed by an ever-accelerating bacchanalic round, "Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat"!
The piece opens with a sedate brass choir, followed by the Celtic flute in an ornamental rendition of the melody; then the violins dive in, supported by the orchestra. The solo parts are written "straight" with the understanding that the musicians will include the appropriate Celtic ornamentation. Since the Bodhran part is largely improvised, I only marked where it should enter and when it should tacet. Guitar part includes chords and also indicates when to play and when to tacet.
Note: the audio track is currently limited to a computer-generated rendering of the orchestral parts and the solos, sans bodhran and guitar. The piece was initially arranged for performance by Knocknasheega Celtic Band (knocknasheega.com)
Time: ca. 4 minutes
