Product Description
Finally! A passionate piece for your repertoire, one that doesn't require a full orchestra to enjoy!
Gabriel Fauré originally planned this elegie as the start of a cello sonata, but the other movements never got completed; eventually he published it, stand-alone, with piano accompaniment. Later, Fauré scored for the work for full orchestra. I've taken the orchestral score and reduced the arrangement to be played by string quartet. Your ensemble will enjoy performing this lush and dramatic accompaniment behind the equally rich melodic solo instrument.
The parts are not difficult. The piece provides a rich study in romantic harmonies, in a tight package.
Time: about 4 minutes.
