This song was created from a poem my brother wrote for our mother's funeral service. It was read by his daughter, her Granddaughter. I took the poem and adapted it into lyrics for this song in memory of our mother and her grandchildren. The poem was specific to our mother. She had 8 children, but miscarried the 8th one, so there were 7 of us. God decided 7 was enough for her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and is greatly missed by all of us. This has violin, vocal solo and piano. cdboss@cvalley.net See the poem below.
Grandma Roe
A beautiful bride, so young and full of dreams.
It couldnt get any better, so it would seem.
Then, she was left alone in the states with a baby.
Her husband over seas in a war as she prayed for his safety.
They got reunited and with six more kids, seven was enough.
Even though she loved each child, those days were pretty
rough.
She changed countless diapers and made sure they were fed.
Grandma and Grandpa worked hard to cloth them and put a roof
over head.
As Grandpa left for work each day, he kissed her as if she
were a saint.
Grandma had supper ready when he came home, with never a
complaint.
One of the things Grandma loved to do was to fish.
On some of those days, a full stringer was her only wish.
Her children grew up and each found a mate
Then came us grandchildren and Grandma thought we were
great!
Us grandchildren she loved, with a hug and a kiss.
Something all her grandchildren will surely miss.
Jesus said one of the greatest commandments is to love each
other.
We are blessed to have had the unconditional love of our
grandmother.
For the last years of her life, Grandpa took very good care
of our grandmother.
If you thought about who should have done that, I can
imagine no one other.
Grandma donated her body to science to help her fellow man.
Even after she gone from this earth, shes still part of Gods
plan.
So, if you're wondering about the meaning of life and how of
yourself to give.
Reflect on the life of this lady, and let that be your
example of how to live.
Grandpa said on her last day , You go and prepare a place
and I will join you later
I pray that we all have enough faith, so that we may once
again all be together.
Grandma Roe had an influence on you, she made a difference in
my life.
She was a mother and grandmother, starting this family as a
beautiful wife.
