The English Suite for string orchestra was one of the last works composed by Hubert Parry (1848 - 1918). Parry is best known for his choral works Jerusalem, "I was glad" and Blest pair of sirens. He also was the teacher of Vaughan Williams and Holst. This piece is certainly very English in feel with strong rhythmic tunes.
