Longfellow's sorrowful "The Rainy Day" is now set for unison choir and piano. Although the poem is rounded with a realist sadness, Longfellow does infuse his work with hope and a glimmer of light. In keeping with the poem, the music attempts to match the alternately pessimistic and optimistic tone of the poem.

Performed by the Lowell Middle School 6th Grade Choir. Nathan Masterson, conductor.  ("The Rainy Day" is the first piece featured in the video.)
