New music for an ancient dance!  This evocative belly dance tune is composed for solo violin to accompany a veil dance and can be accompanied by an improvising drummer familiar with belly dance rhythms. This music will also be enjoyed by violinists interested in exploring world music genres. It is composed in Maqam Hijaz Humayun on G. About the composer: Dorothy van Joolen Barth is a violinist and recorder player. Born  in Amsterdam, she now resides and performs in California. She has arranged six volumes of Celtic traditional music for two instruments and has composed three volumes of original music. She studied and performed oriental dance for several decades, which inspired her to compose this original music. Interest by dancers and musicians in these compositions will encourage her to create more!
