GROOVE TONIC is an original composition for big band and featured as a set piece for the 2003 Australian Academy Festival of Music Jiants of Jazz Ensemble division. 

The chart features a shuffle groove and a catchy tune that will cure all that ails you!  The main theme is presented first by the Saxes and then the trumpets.  Make sure the articulations are closely observed, particularly the staccato eighth notes that happen on the beat from time to time. The sax section is featured in an extended soli passage and there is an open solo section with changes marked for Alto Sax 1, Tenor Sax 1, Trumpet 2 and Trombone 1.
