Product Description
Use these flash cards with pairs of students. One student shows the flashcard, the other student must name the notes on the card, and then play them. Then they should switch roles. When they get good at reading single cards, put two cards one after the other on a stand, and have the students play the whole sequence.
The cards are graded they start with open strings, and go on to all the notes of the D major scale in first position.
I print out the cards on the light carton paper used for report covers, available in any office supply store, and cut up the cards with a utility knife or scissors.
These cards are part of my series Open
String Symphony. These are pieces for string ensembles of mixed skill
levels, from open strings to first position all notes. You can see the entire
series at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=Open+String+Symphony .
These pieces are part of a more
complete program for teaching strings in classes. You can read the entire
first-year program in the books Playing Together Student Workbook and Playing
