This version of the Blue Danube starts a little further on than Strauss did, and finishes a little earlier, but still makes a well-rounded piece for the audience. It lasts just over 8 minutes and usually receives applause even during the Wedding Breakfast. I've added a few little counter-melodies in the viola & 1st violin parts to sustain the interest in light of the more restricted instrumentation. Written for the Spring Quartet, http://www.springquartet.co.uk. david@springquartet.co.uk. A contrabass part is available on request
