The Short But Sweet Rag is a cheerful, bouncy Grade 4-5 rag and one of 6 pieces written in the traditional style of the great Scott Joplin. Using little or no RH double octave work, these rags were composed to help intermediate level students gain confidence with the difficult "stride" bass technique. The bass must remain steady for the right hand syncopation to be effective. The given fingering works well but is a suggested one only and can be altered to suit the performer.
