Maestro says that "In the Garden" was made for an early intermediate flute solo. That clear, sweet tone is ideal for this lovely old favorite. My arrangement is in the key of G with no key changes. The piano score (with flute reduction) is four pages long. The separate flute part is two pages at the end, for a total of 6 pages. The tempo is marked at 50 mm. for the 6/8 meter, so count two beats per measure. A practice tip: begin at a slower pace, say 44 mm. and work your way up. You don't want the performance tempo to drag. Performance time-- 1:48.(Note: I have a piano solo for "In the Garden" also posted on my SMP page. It is NOT the same as the accompaniment you see here for the flute solo.)
