During the summer months, many churches like to pull out the old hymnals and sing what Grandma called "a good ol' Camp Meeting song." "Dwelling in Beulah Land" will always be on the top of my list.This rousing Gospel favorite has been around since 1911, but it is still popular today, especially in my family. My father, who couldn't read a note of music, could always carry a tune, and for some time, he led the singing in his Sunday School class every Sunday. When he passed away, I inherited his Bible and his hymnal, both stuffed with lists of favorite Bible verses and hymns. At the top of every hand-printed hymn list was "Dwelling in Beulah Land." My intermediate rendition of this great hymn is in early American style. The tempo, set at 1/4 note = 132, is quick, but one should practice at a slower speed and work up to 132. Key of Bb, no key changes, four pages, approximately 2:30 minutes.
