Product Description

This instrumental arrangement of the much loved American hymn 'I Need Thee Every Hour' for cello and piano is unique in that the cello part is largely adapted from the often performed Prelude in G for solo cello by J. S. Bach (Suite no.1 for solo cello, BWV 1007). The cello has an extended eight bar introduction and then continues to accompany the piano. The cello and piano swap roles at the 32nd measure where the piano accompanies with a freely composed counter-melody. An upward key shift sees the cello again with the hymn melody while the piano accompaniment is more in the style of the Bach cello introduction. An extended final cadence brings this characterful arrangement to a close. Ideal for both High School and church use, it will make a great recital piece and will likewise make a splendid musical offering for any church congregation which embraces this hymn. The performance duration is around three minutes and the full score is four pages with individual parts attached.
