Product Description

This setting of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem, "The Wind," from A Child's Garden of Verses, is composed for two-part SA treble chorus with piano accompaniment. The extended tonal harmonies ask students to hear and resolve suspended and non-chord pitches within easily accessible thirds and sixths, while Part I can help develop range for the higher voices.  In terms of text, Stevensons poem provides mature lyrics for young musicians as well as an opportunity for cross-discipline literary learning.  A current and respected choral director who reviewed the piece referred to the piano accompaniment as "fun to play and varied nicely."  In response to the piece as a whole, she also said, "I do think the young choral world can use more challenging pieces."
