A trapezoid is a geometric figure that contains two parallel lines and two lines that are not parallel. This short March contains parallel elements and contrasting elements, hence the title. Rhythm, dynamics, and articulation create the contrasts while imitation and repetition of melodic ideas create the parallelism. Makes a nice encore piece.
