Product Description

"Three Greek Dances" was transcribed for Peter Bianca from the clarinet and marimba version. The dances are stylized by preserving the flavor of the dances while treating the material in a more developmental and contrapuntal manner. Kalamationos is the most popular Greek dance and is Peloponnesian in origin. Like its cousin, the Syrtos the national dance of Greece, it is in 7/8 meter grouped as 3-2-2. Zeibekiko has its origin in the Eastern Aegean Islands. It is in 9/4 meter at a slow tempo with a lot of syncopation. Hassapikos is a buthchers dance in 2/4 time with eight measure phrases. It begins moderately and increases tempo throughout the dance.
