Let It Snow! Let
It Snow! Let It Snow!- for Orchestra-
Written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne
in 1945. Arranged for orchestra by
John Hoesly. Although Let It Snow! is
regarded as a Christmas song, it was written in July during a heat wave in
California where Cahn and Styne were working at the time; wishing for cooler
temperatures. It has been recorded many times over the years and is a
wintertime staple. This arrangement is
in a swing style and liberally uses surprise tonal shifts from one key center
to another. It is an intermediate to advanced intermediate level
arrangement. All sections get a chance
at the melody and there is a "jazzy" Trumpet solo which can be played as
written or improvised (or passed to another player). A nice selection for your winter
concert. Score,
Condensed Score and Parts: Piccolo, Flute, Oboe 1&2, Bb Clarinet 1&2,
Bb Bass Clarinet, Bassoon 1&2, F Horn 1,2,3,&4, Bb Trumpets 1,2&3,
Trombone 1&2, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Timpani. Percussion (Suspended {Ride}
Cymbal, Bass Drum, Sleigh Bells), Xylophone, Harp, Keyboard (Piano, Celesta),
Strings.
