He Keeps Me Singing is number 18 in our Trumpet Hymn Duet series. It breaks from the others in that the style takes on a bit of a gospel swing to it. The arrangement begins with straight eight-notes and in a slower tempo. But then the second chorus begins to swing at a faster tempo.

The swing is not a jazz swing. I was certain to keep the line between the two styles very clear. Not that I have a problem with jazzing up the hymns. I have made recordings of jazzed up hymns myself. But that's not what this Trumpet Hymn Duet series is about.

The skill level on this one is intermediate, leaning toward advanced. The highest note is A flat.
