The classic hymn tune "Dix" by C. Kocher (1838) is arranged here as a slow jazz ballad. For more advanced performers, it is suitable for church prelude or offertory, especially at Thanksgiving, and could also be programmed in a concert. The same tune is associated with the Christmas hymn, As With Gladness Men Of Old, so it could be performed year round. This recording uses viola instead of cello but still provides the flavor of the piece. The viola version is also available.
