This beautiful traditional carol starts simply but makes use of the whole piano keyboard. The melody is introduced in the left hand with a quiet right hand arpeggio-style accompaniment. It descends into the middle area of the piano, where the rich melody is accompanied by wide chords. The middle section builds to two measures of bell-like chords. The final section is majestic--with large-spaced chords that cover the lower section of the piano. As it calms, it makes it's way into a dolce section that finishes high on the keyboard.

The piano solo is written in C major and is accessible for late elementary - early intermediate pianists.

The piano solo is suitable for performance in church.
