Flute Quartet or Flute Choir

Sunrise, Sunset from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

Program Notes

Sunrise, Sunset is one of the most famous songs to come from the musical Fiddler on the Roof. This poignant song is haunting and emotional, as it is sung during the wedding of the oldest daughter of the main characters, Tevye and Golde, as they reminisce about how fast their children have grown.  Now a standard, Sunrise, Sunset is often heard at weddings.  As a matter of fact, Sunrise, Sunset was played at my wedding as I walked down the aisle.  Its always held a special place in my heart.

This arrangement for Flute Quartet can be performed with as few as 4 players or with multiple players on a part.  It is scored for 3 flutes , and the 4th part may played on either bass flute, alto flute, or c-flute.
