Product Description
Shenandoah
arr. Phyllis Avidan Louke
One of Americas best loved songs began as a sea shanty. The Shenandoah spoken of in the song is not about a place, but is about an Indian chief living along the Missouri River.
Oh Shenandoah,
I long to hear you,
Away you rolling river,
Oh Shenandoah,
I long to hear you,
Away, Im bound away
Cross the wide Missouri
Oh Shenandoah,
I love your daughter,
Away you rolling river,
Oh Shenandoah,
I love your daughter,
Away, Im bound away
Cross the wide Missouri.
This arrangement opens with a haunting Flute 1 and Alto Flute duet. The instruments are featured
in various combinations throughout the piece to explore the different of colors produced by the flute choir. Harmonies and rhythms are altered during various sections--most notably a duet between the bass flute and alto flute. Piccolo, alto and bass flutes play prominent roles.
