Klar zum Gefecht is one of Hermann Blankenburg's brilliant German marches. The title in English is Ready for Action. This expression is used in the same way as All hands on deck in the navies of the English speaking world. Hermann L. Blankenburg was surely the world's most prolific march composer having written over 1000 (probably over 1300). No composer before or since has had more marches published (about three hundred counting scores for piano and chamber orchestra) and few can equal the figure of 126 marches recorded at one time or other. Most of his march output was lost when his home was bombed during WWII.
