SCENE SYNOPSIS: Danae (alto) is older now. She is being prepared as a bride for a wedding, but the occasion is not a happy one. She is to married to the tyrant Polydektes, king of Seriphos. She looks off into the distance, recalling her life and her anguish at losing her only beloved son, Perseus. The thought of it all practically drives her to madness. She attempts to kill herself, but cannot do it, which brings us into her aria of dispair, "Let me weep, my cruel fate." Sound clip is with orchestration, but offered as sheet music with a piano/vocal score. This aria is available orchestrated with parts.
