Product Description

Commissioned by cellist Marty Steinberg as an encore for performance with clarinetist Mitch Sturman at Congregation Beth El in Philadelphia on November 3, 2018.  "Long Live the Nigun" ("Nigun" meaning "tune") evenly splits the melody between cello and clarinet.  "Bublitschki" ("Bagels") has a quasi-canonic presentation of the melody.  "Hopke" (a dance that literally means "hop" - and similar to, or derived from the hopak) accelerates and builds excitement until its conclusion.
