Product Description

The complete second movement of Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World," is here presented as arranged for string orchestra by Joel Jacklich. In the easier string key of D Major (transposed from the original D-flar Major), not only the familiar "Goin' Home" theme, but the entire second movement with all the melodies and harmonies of the full orchestra is condensed into an arrangement playable by the string orchestra. Except for the key transposition, most of the string parts contain the complete contents of Dvorak's original with the necessary wind parts written into the strings as needed. A challenging work for string orchestra when the full symphony is not available.
