Product Description

Composition by Daniel Hay in a modified 12-tone structure. This is his first composition and was created upon a theme sent to him by a Junior High School classmate. The oboe (or substituted instrument) represents the Hermit while the strings represent Society as it moves through fads and glamours settling on the Hermit's theme and breaking away again. It is the Hermit who remains committed throughout while Society fragments. The solo melody version has been recited on various instruments. (Note: the attached audio file is computer generated and seems to voice the contrabass so softly it can barely be heard. The composition requires strong players and each string part is as important as the rest.) This piece was lost in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina and was only recovered by happenstance when the original score was rediscovered in unrelated files after having spent many years in the possession of the composer's Junior High School friend. This is the full score. Complete parts can be uploaded for purchase upon request.
