Product Description
The Christmas Song is better known to many by its first line Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire. The song was written on a hot
summer day in 1945 by Mel Torme and Bob Wells who were trying to cool down
by composing a wintry lyric. It was first recorded by Nat King Cole the following year and was an instant hit. Nat King Cole revisited the song several
times in his career and it has also been recorded by just about every noteworthy
popular artist since, from Frank Sinatra,
Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul McCartney to The Jacksons, and many more. This
version is arranged as a duet for two Trombones.
Musicians at an intermediate standard will find
this ideal for formal and informal concert performances, with both parts
enjoying melodic interest. Total performance time is around four minutes. The sample recording is from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version of this duet while the full length performance on the youtube link is the Clarinet version.
Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to
approach expressive playing.
