Product Description
The Sound of Silence was the first of many hits for Simon
and Garfunkel. It
was first recorded in 1963 but the release was a commercial failure and the two
musicians went their separate ways. However, after some local radio airplay the
producer decided to remix the original with electric instruments. The song
became a worldwide hit and Simon and Garfunkel hastily reformed as a duo. This
version is arranged as a duet for two Alto Saxophones.
Musicians of an intermediate standard and above
will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts
enjoying melodic interest. The overall performance time is around two and a
half minutes.
Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to
approach ensemble skills and phrase shaping. The rhythms are quite
straightforward. The short audio recording is from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version while the full length youtube performance is the Alto Saxophone Duet.
