Product Description

A complete book of oboe and bassoon duets. This sheet music is not easy, but is accessible for good high school or college players. This series of five pieces arranged by John Gibson is an adult's journey to the land of children. Many composers have written music for and about children. The music chosen for this series of duets is not music written for children to play so much as vivid musical descriptions of children's thoughts and play times. Bizet: Children's Games -March Trumpet and Drum, The Doll, The Top, Little Husband Little Wife, The Bay (1871) Ravel: Mother Goose Suite Pavanne for Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, Empress of the Pagodas, Beauty and The Beast (1910) Schumann: Scenes From Childhood -Curious Story, Traumerei, At the Fireside, The Knight of the Rocking Horse, Child Falling Asleep Tschaikowsky: Album for the Young -The Hobby Horse, March of the Tin Soldiers, The Sick Doll, Waltz, Folk Song, Neapolitan Dance Song, The Witch Debussy: Children's Corner -Doctor Gradus Ad Parnassum, Jumbo's Lullaby, Serenade of the Doll, The Little Shepard, Golliwogg's Cake Walk (1908) The audio sample is a version for flute and clarinet from the Debussy piece. All other versions are similar, but adjusted to work with the instruments being used.
