Product Description

This Celebration uses four distinct themes woven into a joyful whole.

The flute introduces its traditional call - a repeated minor third, which re-appears during the whole piece.

It then embarks upon a jigg in E flat gradually enhanced with traditional decorations and downwards glissandi.

It then brings in its partners, the strings.

The solo violin then introduces a new theme in C minor, which is based on the old Westron Wynde melody but using a 3 3 2 rhythm,
against pizzicato strings.

The flute and, occasionally, the violin rhapsodise on the various tunes along with the strings (arco and pizzicato)

An atonal melody then comes in making 12-tone interplay with the
E flat and C minor themes.

The flute finds another new theme and this also merges with
memories of the previous melodies.

The atonal melody reappears with flute and violin an
interval apart.

The violin provides a new version of the Westron Wynde tune.

The celebration begins to wind up.

The flute comes back with its original melody and there is a brief
finale.
