Product Description

Instrumental arrangement of an anthem by Johannes Brahms
The pdf file contains score and parts
The sound sample is an electronic preview.

I have made two versions of the wind and string settings - one with bassoon and cello in tenor clef
"Wenn ein starker Gewappneter (If a strong armed man guards his palace) for wind quartet and string quartet (higher basses)"

and one with bassoon and cello down an octave in bass clef
"Wenn ein starker Gewappneter (If a strong armed man guards his palace) for wind quartet and string quartet (lower basses)"

The words in the original choral piece are taken from two unconnected verses of St. Luke's Gospel, Chapter 11

[my translation:]
If a strong armed man guards his palace
His property will remain in peace
But any kingdom that is divided amongst itself
Will be laid waste
and one house will fall upon another...
When a strong armed man guards his palace
His property will remain in peace
