Product Description

Instrumental quartet based on my vocal quartet (also available on this site and
also as a video on youtube, performed by Matthew Curtis, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UR7pNQNAeA ).
It is a canon based on the curious poem by the Rev George Strong about Hiawatha using
the pelt of his prey to make mittens. The animal referred to in Strong's parody does not actually exist;
Longfellow's original poem identifies Mudjokivis as tribal enemy. But this is more fun!

The pdf contains score and parts.
The sound sample is an electronic preview.

When he killed the Mudjokivis.
Of the skin he made him mittens,
Made them with the fur side inside,
Made them with the skin side outside.
He, to get the warm side inside,
Put the inside skin side outside;
He to get the cold side outside
Put the warm side fur side inside.
Thats why he put the fur side inside,
Why he put the skin side outside,
Why he turned them inside outside.
