the original song, by Tchaikovsky, was a setting of the poem by Goethe (one of the songs of Mignon in his novel Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre").

It is one of Tchaikovsky's most yearning melodies. I have transcribed the piano part into a relatively simple guitar version.
